Engineering epigenetic programs to promote axon regeneration

Neuronal injury creates a striking discordance between transcript abundance and ribosome association, revealing a coordinated regulon of ribosomal protein mRNAs. Our work shows that this pro-regenerative regulon is controlled by CSDE1 and an injury-induced regulatory RNA, uncovering a trans-acting RNA mechanism that links post-transcriptional gene regulation to neural repair.
